You Got An MP3 Player..... Now What?
Complete 2025 MP3 Player/ Audio Player Tutorial
So let's start off with my credentials. I have been building my Music Library since about 2017. and have revised my methods many many times since. This will be starting From Zero so those more familiar with audio processing, audio file types, and Bit rates may just want to skip the beginning.
Audio Files
So First off we will start with the MP3 file. The First thing to take note of is the audio quality. that is measured in Kilobits per second. just like images or videos take up more space and have higher pixel counts and frame rates. audio files have the same with Kbps and sample rate. sample rate is how often the audio is rendered. just like frame rate. this is normally 44100 Khz since it is said humans cannot distinguish this from higher sample rates.
Examples of Different audio qualities are Spotifiies average quality for free users will be 180-150 kbps. Video game chats are 12 to 24. and a very high quality flac or Wav file will be 800-1,000
What your aiming for.
The gold standard for MP3 is 320kbps. and its sorta the limit of mp3. but as mentioned earlier this is higher quality than spotify. But just like low quality images can be scaled. low quality audio or corrupted codecs can ruin stink up your library. so where you source your music from makes a huge difference. so lets talk about that.
Music Downloading Sources
yt2mp3 sites are the most primitive form of Music Source. I only Recommend using this for you tube
Exclusive things. I DO NOT. recommend yt2mp3 sites. These are super sketchy and unreliable. I recommend applications for this. These are far more feature rich and support batch downloading. ClipGrab is my favorite
Another Music Source is BandCamp. Especially for independent artists and its often that things are listed as name your price. but even at that it's still pretty cheap. Individual Track buying for as low as a dollar and entire albums for less than 10.
this ensures that what you are downloading are the highest quality and directly supporting the artist. this is why I reccomend it alot more for smaller artists rather than yt2mp3 or other options.
"DO NOT USE SOULSEEK"
For the sake of Stopping Piracy and illegal downloading of music I must say to """avoid""" Soulseek. soulseek is a peer2peer music sharing service THOUGH IT MAY SAY. but in the words of lars ulrich. Sharing is only cool when its not your stuff. But I will say every artist you can think of is available on soulseek and unique variations like demos and leaks from artists. "I DO NOT RECCOMEND" Nicotine Plus for linux users. please do not use Soulseek I really wanna stop piracy im doing it for lars.
File Management
This is the most important thing to get right. and is gonna be the thing you spend the most time on other than listening to music. I start with a file holding everything. This is my COMPUTER MUZAK file. from here the hierarchy is COMPUTERMUZAK/Artist/Album/Musicfile.mp3 and sometimes the album image is contained within the album file. So its gonna look something like /home/frankie/Music/COMPUTER MUZAK/Grausamkeit/Dreams From The Old Northern Forest/05 - Jesu Aske (Outro).mp3. this will be important to know later. and this is the preferred file Hierachy for music players and PC media players. but to automate this I use MusicBee. which has an organize files feature.
Next thing that is important is Metadata. This is the information the file holds about the music. the most basic form would be Artist, Album, Year and the Album Cover. These can get very oddly detailed but these are the most important. for this I use Mp3tag. this has all the right features for getting the simple details right. and has Discogs support for getting all the album details.
BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP!!!! As I once heard. If you have one. you have none. right now i have about 3 backups of my library. one on my personal computer. one on my Plex Server. and one on my MP3 player. and one on an external SSD. I would not depend on one thing to hold all of your music. do not make this mistake. even making 2 spoof google accounts is enough to host my current music library. so there is no excuse.
Okay MP3 player time.
If you don't have an MP3 Player yet but are planning to make the trendy choice to get an ipod.... Don't. While its a nice project to learn alot of things from like hardware and software mods. these are quite the workload to get up to modern standards and considering the ipods 30pin and still massively slow data transfer time due to that outdated cable. There are new MP3 players using USBC and bluetooth without needing mods. this pool of new players is so large that I would say research on your own since you may be looking for certain features and certain form factors. But my recommendations are the hyby R1 Hifi walker H2 and the Xduoo X2s.
You Don't "Need" an MP3 PLayer!
For my first 5 years of making my music library. I just used an old phone as my music player. this worked very well and i could say could be endgame for certain people. this does the same job of a MP3 player since it separates the music experience from your phone.I used Nyx which is a very nice looking Media player for Android.
Playlists!!!
This is One thing I struggled with alot. making playlists externally is very hard. it might make sense that its all the same files so it should work. Right??? No.
as programmers know. computers are only as smart as your code. so lets break down how Playlist files work. M3u. and M3u8 Files are one of the most compatible playlist files. these work with most mp3 players and most media players. you will NEED M3u8 if you have foreign music since m3u does not support unicode letters like Japanese or like that O with the 2 dots on it.
But to make it simple. M3u8 Files contain a road map to each song. this road map is specialized to your computer or whatever you make the playlist on. so moving this playlist to an mp3 player will not work at all since the directions to the music files are different.
1.To edit the road map. Right click on the playlist file and select open with notepad or text editor on linux.
2.with your mp3 player plugged in. copy the file path that leads to your main music file.
3. Use the Find and replace function to switch the file path. so since the music file is on the root of the player this will switch the directions from the one in the computer to the one needed for the MP3 player.
4. Make sure to just save. and not save as
Overall
I hope this has helped I'm glad to see people are starting to use mp3 players and all. I've been doing this for years and i can see how daunting it can look just starting out. but to really own your music. this is the way. cool.

Doodle Page!!!
pick your icon Tech obsessed social outcast. ted k or terry davis
I've been thinking about Terry recently
an actual tech prodigy it's really fucking sad to see what became of him with his battle with schizophrenia but still beautiful to see what he made from it. I see temple OS as actual art since Davis made it from scratch for the sake of making gods third temple. for a software nerd and an artist.
Doodle Style
I don't think anyone really needs an artist to pull this style from. I think it comes natural when you are bored in class. and that is exactly how I came up with this style. and it been really long since i have drawn like this. I don't know why. after going through some old sketch books I forgot how much fun it was to come up with ideas to fill space and make composition out of nothing. to try and make things flow from one drawing to the other. this style is very forgiving to letting any idea fly so i can get really experimental and weird with it. and it would actually be preferred.

The Anbernic RG35-XXSP Review.
This Replaced my Doom Scroll.
Time For another thing to replace one of my phones functions. one that is far out done by this handheld emulator.
Mobile Gaming Really sucks I don't care how much bluetooth controllers and Retroid you add to a phone it's still a phone. one distraction or one notification and your session is over. at least for me. as someone with adhd having the distraction brick around you in any capacity is a risk. especially Doom scrolling.
So after my H2 Music player review the next logical step is the Anbernic RG35-XXSP. a linux based open source Game boy BEAST.
I think this form factor makes the most since considering all of the time you'd be carrying a phone AND you handheld. something that's really hard with PSP style Handhelds. I can tell you for sure considering before this my jailbraked psp was just as and even more powerful than this but it is larger and has outdated ports AND storage mediums. (if you don't use an SD card adapter)
It's not all about looks. But it most certainly with this.
I Could really say alot about how well it does this or that but. C'mon. its such a charming design that it is just hard to hate. it's as if you LS swapped a VW beetle. such a cute form factor and alot of power to back it up as a viable handheld. this is a bit larger than a OG Game boy SP but it is still no bigger than the palm of my hand and bout 2 inches thick.
Now it's time to talk about the thing that really shows the price of this. the build and the factory OS. For 80 dollars. the build is all plastic. not to say it's weak but feels sturdy with a healthy feeling weight to it. and the buttons are done very right with a pretty clicky feeling. I know its up to preference but I love how it makes games feel super responsive. and the shoulder buttons are the same way
MuOS
So like I said this is a linux based emulator so naturally. The argument between Distros is constant. I don't care to list others but my choice was MUOS. but other operating systems are available for this system and like i said another thing that made it cheap was the factory OS
And boy is it useless. it's so ugly and useless that I will not even show you.
But MuOS is super fun to fuck around with. Custom Themes and a massive library of game support. and even support for some odd formats like various Audio and Video Codecs, Karaoke , and even the fucking TI-84. and with that Audio Codec i of course but Cameron Winters album onto the player. thus making it an MP3 player.
Games!!!!
Support for consoles are stable up until Psp. And even at that PSP support is very iffy. but PS1 games are very very comfortable on this console which for me is a huge plus. I know other mainstream handhelds like the steam deck can play... anything. also side tangent. Microsoft has a handheld out and uses windows as the OS. you reckon that shit comes with Mcaffee antivirus. sorry I've only known cheap windows my whole life so uninstalling Mcaffee the moment I get a new computer. BUT other than that. I'm mainly doing it for the size. this has a very very good balance of small and comfortable. for my hands at least.
Overall
For beginners in Linux or software modding in general this is a super fun and simple project. I really did luck out with my MUOS flash but I would imagine Troubleshooting would be easy considering support for MUOS is ongoing and very very active. I would majorly reccomend this to people trying to lessen their screen time on their phones. and peoiple also looking to de-centralizing their phone.

Talking again..... still not dating
I'm Talking to Him Again
This is still a FWB thing and I am gonna treat it like that. I got way too attached. seeing him again really did improve my mood this month. I do feel bad cause I really could have lost him but he is such a sweetie for checking up on me during my radio silence. Treated me better than any other person really has and that's why i feel kinda dumb for pushing him away.
Drawing Yipee!!!
My Pintrest Got Bombed and banned soooo. I'm just starting from scratch on my art direction. So it's been really fun to experiment with new things. My fav this month has to be the skater girl. I love her outfit and she just looks so cute!! I've decided to go more twords nu metal and mall goth aesthetics. and skate culture too. I'm not drawing too much NSFW stuff anymore TBH. even less than last month. I've just found it more fun to experiment with fashion rather than experiment with poses. Another sick project from this month was the black metal labubu. it was a labubu my coworker bought for me and I made corpse paint for it. It's really cute and has actually held up rather well. considering there's no lacquer on it. I'm always trying and looking for a unique canvas and he was certainly one of my favs. and yes its a he and his name is Barum.
Fucking Stupid goddamn shit work
I'm Okay with work... Kinda but I am working on an out rn and I'm just waiting for a call. I just know wherever I go from here will be a massive release. I'm looking at a paint store. but anything other than restaurant work would be incredible. I feel stupid for going back but for how fast I wanted out of my last job. going back made the most sense. and my Plumbing career might be cooked. No places I called are Hiring Apprentices. and getting a plumbers license in texas requires time spent working. not just a test or a trade school. so since I can't find an apprenticeship. I have no way to start my career
Finances....
I am really Proud to say my savings did actually reach my savings goal and even much more. My account is at 4k. The new goal is to just continue to save and eventually put that twords an apartment. And by the end of the year my car will be payed off. so as long as i get an apartment with utilities covered I would only need rent and other bills. without having to consider the main utilities. that's this years full long term goals. right now is just saving more. My Bills are extremely low right now so this is the best time to save alot. other than moving back in with in my mom. which is in consideration. This might be the cheapest way to live right now.
Zermm Now for the Stupid shit i spent money on....
I just talked about money and saving so I must humble myself and confess..... I bought some sony bluetooth head doots. I originally went to this used game store for a handheld emulator but saw these sony cans for only 50. and for a 2023 model. it was a real steal. my phone is bluetooth only and I have no real closed back headphones so I was gonna get something like that eventually. and with my audiophile ass i would not settle for anything less than sony. and the whole handheld thing.... I bought one also.
It's the Anbernic RG35XXSP. I used to have a modded PSP and it was actually really fun. But the RG35 is a clamshell case and is wayyy more comfortable and portable. considering everywhere I go I also carry my phone the psp was just too big and crowded both of my front pockets. I just really need something to keep me from using my phone. while I know it still is a distraction. its not my phone at least...
Drawing on my Junkbook
Travelers notebook? no need!!
When A Girl Got Sharp Canines I FW it. You don't need Braces you need a Full Moon.
I've had this little soft cover sketchbook for a while and its just kinda been in my purse for a min. it's bound in kraft paper which is like my fav fav medium to draw on. since the brown is alot more interesting that just white paper. and it holds inks very well. compared to certain paper that has the ink sit on the top and not soak in. Her face is a bit awkward but she is still cunty so it's okay. It kinda looks like she is twerking but I did not mean that.
I love to lessen pressure by drawing on more casual things cause I end up COOKING IT UP. It's embarassing to admit but i think every artists knows the pressures of their canvas when its a mega fancy canvas vs drawing on napkins. Don't tell me there is a damn difference cause I always feel it.
I think I'm "Pugifying" my girls by lessening their facial structures. the contrast on her face is very weak and it makes her face look alot flatter like a pug. I need to work on that. some stronger shadows on her will make her look better. and her anatomy turned out alot more realistic to me. cause Shoulders and necks finally make sense to me. and working with a pose like this would have been alot harder if i did not know.
